How to control - and pay - your consultants

Mine consultantAlways on the lookout for tips on how to save miners money, I jumped on this piece by Richard Shepard. It tackles the perennial problem of how to control and how to pay your consultant. I spent over twenty years consulting to the mining industry. Without doubt, in my opinion, the best contract is time and materials. I hate fixed fee and believe it leads to poor relationships and poor work products. I also believe that if you do not trust your consultant to spend only what needs to be spent, you should not hire him/her in the first place. I recognize there are differing opinions, and here is Richard’s opinion:
